Instructor: Yoyi (Leah) Fogarty Bennett

Knowing the basics in color theory gives the artist tools to mix color and express feelings in a harmonious way, providing ambiance to convey the mood of a painting. It is a powerful part of the artist’s language.

Materials: Your choice of watercolor or acrylic

Warm and cool red: Cadmium red, Permanent rose

Warm and cool blue: Ultramarine blue, Cerulean blue 

Warm and cool yellow: Cadmium yellow deepCadmium yellow lemon

White
Black
Palette or waxed paper to combine colors
Canvas paper or watercolor paper (depending of the medium the student will work with).
Brushes
Palette knife if using acrylic 
Old rags or paper towels


About the Instructor:  

West Virginia based multimedia artist, Yoyi Fogarty-Bennett, has learned and mastered many mediums including ink, watercolor, charcoal figure & still life drawing, acrylics, mixed media, cold wax and encaustic painting. She also designs and makes hand-crafted jewelry, textile art and is a firm believer in upcycling objects and materials.
